For those who don’t know me my name is Mick Kelly and I am your Club Captain for 2021. I am now  entering my 5th year as a member at Welton Manor having played here previously as pay and play. I find the course a well laid out challenge but above all the welcome and ongoing support which I have received has been above and beyond anywhere I have previously played.
Every Captain thrives to achieve things during their term and I am no different. Due to coronavirus, all hopes I have for this year are currently in the lap of the gods. It’s a very difficult time for everyone, but I’m staying positive and I’ll be ready to go when the restrictions are lifted on 29th March and hopefully we can all stay safe and enjoy the best golf possible.

Last year was a pleasure to assist past Captain Ewan Morrison and I thank him personally for choosing me to follow him in this role and for all his efforts in trying to achieve as much as possible for the club and membership in 2020. This year I welcome Vice Captain Adam Colbourne and wish him every success going forward.
My intention is to continue Ewan’s legacy in continuing to support his chosen charity, Siblings Reunited ( Reunited). This is an amazing and worthwhile cause and all the support they can get I know is very much appreciated. Please watch out for any fundraising events should government restrictions allow. We managed one in 2020 thanks to our resident quiz master and treasurer Mark Shepherd which was a great success and well supported thank you.

We have a full year of varied competitions planned this year with added regular midweek medals and stablefords. There will be away trips to Bridlington Golf Festival in May and Staverton Park for Captains  away weekend in October details of which can be found on the main club notice board. We also hope to compete in the Lincolnshire handicap golf league again this year due to run from April through to September and hopefully re ignite our success from previous years.
My ongoing thanks go out to all our committee members for all their hard work, especially past Captain Simon Swanston who continues to strive and get us all familiar with the World Handicap System. My thanks also go out to the owner, Dave, green keepers and all the staff with the lockdown maintenance and improvements both on and off course as they strive to improve and keep the club open and operating for all its members in these difficult times.

Best wishes
Mick Kelly
