Captain. Craig Chadburn
Vice-captain. Mark Barker
A warm welcome to anyone playing Welton Manor or intending to play here. A big thank you to my predecessor Kev Button for all his hard work last year and his continued effort in taking the club forward.
I am a relative newcomer to Welton Manor, I have been a member here for just 5 years and it gives me great pleasure to take up this role at the club. I travel 45 minutes to get to the course and I frequently get asked why? The answer is we have a good golf course that has great greens during the summer and that paired with the fantastic members, I find it well worth the journey.
There is a constant drive to improve everything around the club, we will be opening new medal tees this year, creating 2 very long pars 4’s, with tough drives on holes 12 and 15, plus we are extending both the 4th and 6th holes. The changes will see our standard scratch raised by 2 shots to 69 and the par will remain at 70.
For anyone wanting to play golf in a relaxed but competitive atmosphere I would highly recommend Welton Manor, whether we are playing well or not so well, we will always laugh about it together. We have regular competitions and on weekends where there is no official competition you will usually find a number of members turning up for a roll up. I have introduced a couple of new golfing activities this year to give members the opportunity to play other courses together, with a captain’s away weekend at Breadsall Priory and I am hoping to follow this up with a midweek away day later in the year.
Thanks to Kev’s captaincy last year where he led our handicap league team to promotion we will be playing in the 1 st Division of the North Lincolnshire League. Hopefully I can continue that success this year and we will have a good season in the league.
There is a great support team here at the club right down from the committee through to Dave and all of his staff on the course and in the club. I thank them all for their continued support going forward.
If anyone is interested in playing in the official competitions, or wants to try things out at a roll up please feel free to email me at email@example.com.
To all golfers everywhere, play well and remember enjoying your golf is the main thing!
